It seems to me that the original Orz3.mod file got corrupted somehow, so that a MOD player loads the sound samples from the file incorrectly, starting to read from the wrong part of the file, resulting in each note sounding the end of one sample followed immediately by the start of the next sample! This is really weird. So after decades of wondering what it was supposed to sound like, I remastered the samples and rebuilt the file like this: - reading Orz3.mod as raw data into Audacity - reselecting each sample accurately - saving each sample as a PCM 8 bit WAV file with a sample frequency of 8363 Hz - using Milky Tracker to replace the samples with the remastered ones. The music is true to the original composed by Eric Berge.
