They are best dealt with by tricking them into attacking the Kohr-Ah, waiting for them to retreat to their space in diminished numbers, then pummeling them mercilessly into submission, where they will rename their civilization Culture 20 or a title of your choosing. Their alliance will make the acquisition of the Aqua Helix, an important artifact needed to repair the Ultron and ultimately beat the game, possible.
The Aqua Helix can also be taken while the Thraddash are away, attacking the Kohr-Ah. And even a third method exists: you can trick the Ilwrath into attacking them by broadcasting using a Caster near their homeworld. You can then either take the Helix while the battle rages and the Thraddash are distracted, or wait until the races have fought each other long enough and then proceed to attack them yourself, as with the attack on the Kohr-Ah.

The Ur-Quan evolved on a world far distant from the region of space depicted in the Ur-Quan Masters. Their world was harsh and violent, and they evolved the capacity to dominate that world. They became the top predators of their world. Their only threats were each other, so they had problems getting along with one another. Eventually, they found a way to cooperate with one another, and they formed the rudiments of a civilized society to the best of their abilities.

With a civilized culture driving them, they set out to explore known space. Their forays bore fruit quickly, as they met a race known as the Taalo. The Taalo, being effectively rocks, did not evoke the Ur-Quan's predatory nature. The Ur-Quan could mingle amongst the Taalo without having to fight their biological instincts to kill and dominate. The Taalo belonged to an organization of species known as the Sentient Milieu. Eventually, the Ur-Quan joined the Sentient Milieu, and became a member race in that venerable organization.

Though they were members of the Sentient Milieu, they still had difficulty integrating with other non-Taalo species. As such, they performed the duty to which they were best suited: solitary exploration missions. The Ur-Quan excelled at this task. But, it was in doing so that they brough doom upon not only the Ur-Quan species, but all of the Sentient Milieu as well.

On one expedition to a planet, the Ur-Quan scout discovered the presence of a sentient species known as the Dynarri. This species had the ability to control the minds of vast numbers of sentient beings. The Dynarri rapidly conquered the Sentient Milieu. Only the Taalo were immune to the Dynarri's compulsions. This could not be tolerated, so the Ur-Quan were forced to help exterminate the species they once called friend.

The Dynarri forced the Ur-Quan to destroy a few other members of the Sentient Milieu over the centuries that they served under Dynarri compulsion. The Dynarri visited other forms of pain upon the Ur-Quan, by tampering with them at a generic level. The Ur-Quan were the easiest for the Dynarri to control, so they wanted to maximize the use of this species. They fractured the Ur-Quan species into two races: the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za, the green Ur-Quan, and the Ur-Quan Kohr-Ah, the black Ur-Quan. The green Ur-Quan would be the thinkers: the scientists and bureacrats. The black Ur-Quan were the workers: the warriors and laborers.

Eventually, an Ur-Quan scientist named Kzer-Za discovered the means by which the Ur-Quan could free themselves from the Dynarri. Intense pain would prevent any Dynarri from excercising their mental compulsion. Though it took several years, the Ur-Quan races led the war of liberation and subjugatted the hated Dynarri.

Then, the two Ur-Quan races met to determine two things: the means by which to punish the Dynarri and the way to prevent the Ur-Quan from ever suffering under the dominion of another race again. The Dynarri question was answered quickly: the Ur-Quan stripped them of their sentience at a genetic level, reducing them to mere translation units to allow the Ur-Quan to not have to degrade themselves, as they saw it, by discoursing directly with other sentient species. The second question caused a schism between the Ur-Quan species.

The green Ur-Quan, who had dubbed themsevles "Kzer-Za" in honor of the one who had discovered the way to fight the Dynarri compulsion, suggested what they called the Path of Now and Forever. This would require the Ur-Quan species to subjugate each other species and present them with 2 options: join them as part of their Hierarchy and retain some autonomy, or become a fallow species, trapped on their homeworld beneath an impenetrable slave shield.

Among the black Ur-Quan rose Kohr-Ah, who proposed the Eternal Doctrine. It called for a war-without-end against all non-Ur-Quan species.

Each Ur-Quan race moved to execute their doctrine. The Kzer-Za erected a slave shield around the Faz homeworld, while the Kohr-Ah incinerated the homeworld of the Yuptar. The Kohr-Ah fleet was the first to reach the homeworld of the Mael-Num, the last of the major species that were part of the Sentient Milieu. As the Kohr-Ah began preperations to sanitize the world, a request came from the Mael-Num, asking why they were proceeding on this path. The Kohr-Ah were struck by these words and began to explain. This gave the Kzer-Za fleet enough time to arrive.

The ensuing battle started the first Doctrinal War. A war that the Kohr-Ah almost won. Only the chance discovery by the Kzer-Za of a Precursor Battleship allowed the Kzer-Za to claim victory. But, in victory, the Kzer-Za were magnanimous. They allowed the Kohr-Ah free reign over half of the galaxy, allowing them to practice their doctrine. The Kzer-Za would do the same over the other half. When the two species would meet, they would begin the Doctrinal War anew, with the Precursor Battleship, the Sa-Matra as the prize to the victor.

The Precursors are, from all available evidence, the first species to evolve sentience and explore the galaxy. They moved quickly to become masters of the galaxy, leaving evidence of their presence virtually everywhere. However, it appears that the Precursors vanished from the galactic scene quite suddenly. There has been no evidence discovered that explains the disappearance of the Precursors. The height of Precursor culture seems to have been approximately 200,000-250,000 Earth years ago. The Precursors reigned for only a few thousand years before they vanished.

While the species itself appears to be long gone, evidence of their existence remains. Various artifacts of Precursor origin have been discovered on any number of worlds. The largest artifacts that have been discovered are the Sa-Matra battle platform, discovered by the Ur-Quan, the Precursor factory discovered underneath the surface of Vela 1 (Unzervalt), and the 10 Rainbow worlds found throughout this region of space, which seem to have been used as garbage dumps for their civilization.

From the Precursor artifacts, it has been determined that the Precursors, as a species was a race of "shaggy giants", perhaps 5-8 meters tall and twice as wide.

The only species that we know of that was a contemporary of the Precursors is the Slylandro. Due to their lack of actual writing imblements, much of their knowledge has been lost. However, they mention that, prior to the Precursor's disappearance, that they were frantically searching for something, and that they could be described as worried. Their last transmission seemed to indicate that the Precursors had found the answer they were searching for, and that the arrangement of Rainbow worlds would give a hint as to where they went.

The Dynarri visitted other forms of pain upon the Ur-Quan, by tampering with them at a generic level.

The Kzer-Za errected a slave shield around the Faz homeworld, while the Kohr-Ah incinerated the homeworld of the Yuptar. The Kohr-Ah reached the homeworld of the Mael-Num, the last of the major species that were part of the Sentient Milieu. As the Kohr-Ah began preperations to sanitize the world, a request came from the Mael-Num, asking why they were proceeding on this path. The Kohr-Ah were struct by these words and began to explain.

The Ur-Quan evolved on a world far distant from the region of space depicted in the Ur-Quan Masters. Their world was harsh and violent, and they evolved the capacity to dominate that world. They became the top preditors of their world.

The Taalo, being effectively rocks, did not evoke the Ur-Quan's preditory nature.

Though they were members of the Sentient Milieu, they still had difficulty intercoursing with other non-Taalo species. As such, they performed the duty to which they were best suited: solitary exploration missions. The Ur-Quan excelled at this task. But, it was in doing so that they brough doom upon not only the Ur-Quan species, but all of the Sentient Milieu as well.

The Taalo are a race of rock like beings, which, although sharing a base of silicon with the Chenjesu, are very little reminiscent of them.<p>
The Taalo were the first sentient race to encounter the Ur-Quan, and enlisted them into the Sentient Milieu. They were the only race that did not invoke the Ur-Quan's inherent territoriality, and the two species became close friends. They were immune to the Dnyarri Psi powers, so the Dnyarri forced the Ur-Quan to destroy them. For a long time, the Taalo were thought to be extinct, however, speculation has some believe that the Taalo live. They were the only race of the Sentient Milieu (that we know of) that lived in the SC2 starmap's area. The Taalo may well still exist in some form, as the Orz refer to them in the present tense. Even if they do not exist, some of their artifacts may remain in their home star regions.
