The Thraddash are a race of intellectually challenged barbarians from the Draconis stars.

Physiology and Psychology
The Thraddash look like some sort of bipedal, plated, hornless rhinos, with tough muscled arms and a mean temper. The Thraddash talk tough and act even tougher, usually smoking cigars in their cockpits. They have little or no respect for anything aside from force, which they admire greatly. You could say that the Thraddash are a resemblance of an alien biker-gang from outer space.

History
Thraddash history has witnessed the rise and fall of 18 different planetary cultures. Each time their culture reached a certain point a new ideology for a more perfect culture arrived, and they fought a bitter war eventually blasting themselves back usually 500 years in development, and started a new culture from scratch.

From their conversations with The Captain, we can glean some of the more interesting aspects of previous Thraddash Cultures.

Culture Two
The earliest Culture mentioned by the Thraddash was Culture Two. Little is known of Culture Two, except that they glorified fortitude and stoic resistance to pain.

Culture Three
Threatened by the virtues extolled by Culture Two, Culture Three demonstrated the dominance of their culture by brutalizing themselves. A common tactic used by Culture Three armies was to position themselves on higher ground, cut off one of their limbs and wave them threateningly at their enemies. This tactic was apparently effective in sapping the morale of their enemies, causing them to turn and flee. As a result of this, the status of Culture Three war veterans was determined by the number of limbs they had remaining.

Culture Nine
The most important single artifact common to all Thraddash cultures is the Aqua Helix. Culture Nine was the first (and only) culture to question its significance. Culture Nine considered excessive the amount of blood and passion expended over the artifact. Unfortunately, their complete defeat at the hands of Culture Ten after only two weeks of dominance only reinforced the Thraddash belief in the sanctity of the Aqua Helix.

Culture Twelve
Culture Twelve is the Thraddash example for extreme hostility. It is said that before Culture Twelve's first great battle, Jugkah the Battlemaster accidentally stepped on Gnusko the tactician's foot. This prompted Gnusko to summarily slice Jugkah in half. This rash act, however, spelled doom for Gnusko as Jugkah's troops proceeded to decimate him and his elite guard. As Gnusko's forces were defeated, the late Jugkah's master seargents Muuhd and Pudt got into an argument over the method for Gnusko's execution, whether to use crucifixion or the "Lead Tatoo" technique. The argument was resolved in a characteristically Thraddash fashion when Pudt and his command slaughtered Muuhd and his 500 troops.

These events, however, led to the end of Culture Twelve. Their original enemy, Yajag, surprised the remnants of Jugkah's army and proceeded to annihalate it, paving the way for the establishment of Culture Thirteen.

Culture Fourteen
Culture Fourteen is the second Culture to question traditional Thraddash values. Shortly after achieving dominance, Culture Fourteen claimed that the Thraddash method of cultural evolution was wrong. They claimed that every inter-Culture conflict set the Thraddash back 500 years. As with Culture Nine, Thraddash tradition again proved itself immune to change as Culture Fourteen was destroyed by Culture Fifteen after a reign of only ten years.

Culture Sixteen
Again, little is known of Culture Sixteen, except that they were considered by the Thraddash as "sneaky and deceptive."

Culture Eighteen
Culture Eighteen was the dominant Thraddash culture when the Ur-Quan invaded. Their swift defeat by the Ur-Quan put their superiority into question, and an attempt for a resolution was made by the means of a thermonuclear exchange. The Ur-Quan did not allow such intra-species fighting and intercepted all of the warheads.

The Ur-Quan's intervention, however, only postponed the the inevitable. Shortly after the failed thermonuclear weapon exchange, Culture Eighteen's challengers introduced a super-lethal poison into the air and water, ending the reign of Culture Eighteen.

Culture Nineteen
After the poisoning of Culture Eighteen, the Ur-Quan executed all of the emerging Culture's leaders, and arbitrarily assigned leaders to rule over the Thraddash. The Ur-Quan then explained that any further disobedience will be punished by the eradication of the Thraddash species. Thus started Culture Nineteen.

Culture Nineteen elected to become Battle Thralls upon being enslaved by the Ur-Quan. As such, they expected to be part of the Ur-Quan's offensive in the quadrant. Their relative military weakness, however, forced the Ur-Quan to decide that they would be more of a liability in the coming battles and ordered them to "guard the flank." The modern Thraddash have improved their Torch ships with an effective Reeunk Afterburner (named after its creator), and are itching to prove their worth to the Ur-Quan.

Culture Nineteen is the Thraddash Culture first encountered by The Captain.

Future
The Captain's actions determine the fate of the Thraddash. If they are tricked into attacking the Kohr-Ah, they will move towards the area of the Doctrinal Conflict and will lose half of their fleet. The casualties during this campaign will be 60% inflicted by the Kohr-Ah and 40% inflicted by the Ur-Quan, who presumably punishes the Thraddash for again disobeying orders. If The Captain gains the respect of the Thraddash, they will hail him as a model and will establish a new Culture, the direction of which is left entirely up to The Captain. If the Ilwrath are tricked to attack the Thraddash, then the Ilwrath will move towards Thraddash space, leading to a mutually destructive war that will eliminate both their fleets.

Poetry
After The Captain directed the Thraddash to rhyme in their introductions to alien vessels, Thraddash culture found another channel of expression. The following examples provide an insight into the Thraddash psyche.

Description
The Ilwrath are large, red, spider-like aliens with numerous appendages, many eyes, and pincer mandibles.

The Ilwrath are born from egg sacs that are presumably filled with many eggs. Upon emerging from the eggs, the Ilwrath hatchlings attack and consume each other in a cannibalistic frenzy known as the Birth Rite.

As a species, they are psychopathically violent and religiously fanatical. They worship their twin dark gods, Dogar and Kazon, supposedly speak through the HyperWave Channel 44, which coincidentally is the channel the Umgah love to send their prank messages on.

Humans have many horror stories of the Ilwrath and the gruesome things they do to their prisoners of war, including dismemberment, evisceration, and other forms of torture meant to please Dogar and Kazon-for a good reason. After the Ur-Quan Hierarchy's victory in the First War, the Ilwrath planned to sacrifice all Human beings to their dark gods in a bloody ceremony, but the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za did not allow this, as it conflicted with the Path of Now and Forever.

The Ilwrath pilot the Avenger-class ships.

Origins
The Pkunk tell that the Ilwrath were once a species of supreme and absolute good, but they tried to become even more good, which caused them to "wrap around" the good-evil spectrum, resulting in the pure evil species now associated with the name Ilwrath. The accuracy of this tale is uncertain, due to the playful nature of the informants.

Details about the Ilwrath prior to their supposed transformation are unknown.

History
Early in their history, the Ilwrath had a subsistence hunter-gatherer society and worshiped many gods, from Zith of the Pelt to Awk of the Seds. We know little of early Ilwrath history as the Ilwrath refer to these as the "Dark Ages" of religous confusion.

At a point in their history, a consolidation of the existing Ilwrath religions took place. A priestly ruling body deliberated on the multitude of belief systems and concluded that the Ilwrath must worship the twin gods of Death Dogar and Kazon, and discard all other gods "be they of Hearth or Flowing Web." The new ruling class declared that only priests are capable of interpreting the will of the gods, and refined the techniques of worship to perfection. Specific examples of doctrine included the eating of Heretics and the surrender of all possessions to holy sites or priestly dwellings.

After this point, Ilwrath society focused itself entirely on satisfying the will of the twin gods. Ilwrath technology advanced towards the creation of more efficient means of murder. Religious rituals revolved around pain and death, as is exemplified by a common act of affirmation that involves full or partial amputation of one's own limbs. Even the many deaths at the Birth Rite was interpreted as an Ilwrath's first tribute to the twin gods.

Prior to their contact with the Ur-Quan, the Ilwrath probably have developed a rudimentary space-faring technology. The Chenjesu have reported contact with the Ilwrath, but considered them a negligible threat due to their primitive technology.

The Ilwrath were among the first races enslaved by the Ur-Quan. Seeing the potential of the violent and fanatical Ilwrath as Battle Thralls, the Ur-Quan gave the Ilwrath the technology to improve their ships to match that of the Chenjesu and the Mmrnmhrm. The large number of Ilwrath ships as well as the Ilwrath's religious zeal in seeking the death of other races proved to be an asset to the Ur-Quan offensive.

Upon the defeat of the Humans, the Ilwrath prepared a grand ceremony to murder all of the Humans, which was to be called "Mountains of Flesh". As the Humans have elected to be slave-shielded, the Ur-Quan stopped the Ilwrath ceremony, forcing the Ilwrath to use species indigenous to their homeworld for their sacrifices.

Some years after the end of the war, a bureaucratic error resulted in the depletion of the supply of creatures for sacrifice on the Ilwrath homeworld. A great crisis occured in Ilwrath religion and appeals to the twin gods for guidance became much more frequent.

The calls for guidance were answered. Around 2147, a hyperspace broadcast, claiming to be from the gods Dogar and Kazon, was heard on Hyperwave Channel 44. The broadcast ordered the Ilwrath to attack the "Bird Beings". The priest ruling class, feeling a threat to their authority, counseled the general population to be skeptical of the broadcast. However, the lack of sacrificial rituals, compounded with over-taxation, lack of "quality death in ceremony" and the over-complicated pronounciation of Dogar and Kazon´s names had apparently produced a religious void in many of the Ilwrath, prompting the majority to murder the entire priest caste. After this casual slaughter, the Ilwrath then embarked on a campaign of genocide against the Pkunk, devoting almost their entire fleet on the destruction of the Yehat sub-species.

It is now known that the Umgah were in fact impersonating Dogar and Kazon in this transmission that transformed Ilwrath society. It is unclear, however, how the Umgah would have known about the Pkunk in order to send the Ilwrath against them. Most historians agree that the Umgah in fact wanted the Ilwrath to attack the Yehat, likely for the sake of watching the Ilwrath suffer punishment from the Ur-Quan for violating slave laws.

Hierarchy Status
The Ilwrath are Battle Thralls of the Ur-Quan Hierarchy. Due to their zeal in battling other species, they are the backbone of the Hierarchy offensive. Along with the Spathi, the Ilwrath were commanded to enforce the restrictions placed on Earth, but around the year 2137 abandoned their post to satisfy their (and their gods') bloodthirst.

Extinction
At the end of SC2, the Ilwrath met their doom fighting the Thraddash in a war which led to both races' annihilation.
The Ilwrath are large, red, spider-like aliens with numerous appendages, many eyes, and pincer mandibles.

The Ilwrath are born from egg sacs that are presumably laid in large quantities. Upon emerging from the egg sac, the Ilwrath hatchling participates in what is known as the Birth Rite. Each hatchling competes with its siblings for its first feeding of blood, and a large number of hatchings perish during this event. Whether the blood was part of the natural diet of the Ilwrath before the establishment of the worship of their gods Dogar and Kazon is unknown.

As a species, they are psychopathically violent and religiously fanatical. They worship their twin dark gods, Dogar and Kazon, supposedly speak through the HyperWave Channel 44, which coincidentally is the channel the Umgah love to send their prank messages on.

Humans have many horror stories of the Ilwrath and the gruesome things they do to their prisoners of war, including dismemberment, evisceration, and other forms of torture meant to please Dogar and Kazon.

Prior to their contact with the Ur-Quan, the Ilwrath probably have developed a primitive space-faring technology.

Around 2147, a hyperspace broadcast, claiming to be from the gods Dogar and Kazon, was heard on hyperspace Channel 44. The broadcast ordered the Ilwrath to attack the Pkunk. The priest ruling class, feeling a threat to their authority, counseled the general population to be skeptical of the broadcast. However, the lack of sacrificial rituals, compounded with over-taxation, lack of "quality death in ceremony" and the over-complication of worship have apparently produced a religious void in many of the Ilwrath, prompting the majority to murder the entire priest caste. The Ilwrath then embarked on a campaign of genocide against the Pkunk, devoting almost their entire fleet on the destruction of the Yehat sub-species.

The Thraddash are a race of intellectually challenged barbarians from the Draconis stars.

Physiology and Psychology
The Thraddash look like some sort of bipedal, plated, hornless rhinos, with tough muscled arms and a mean temper. The Traddash talk tough and act even tougher, usually smoking cigars(?)in their cockpits. They have little or no respect for anything aside from force, which they admire greatly. You could say that the Traddash are a resemblance of an alien biker-gang from outer space.

History
Thraddash history has witnessed the rise and fall of 18 different planetary cultures. Each time their culture reached a certain point a new ideology for a more perfect culture arrived, and they fought a bitter war eventually blasting themselves back usually 500 years in development, and started a new culture from scrach.

Unfortunately, their complete defeat at the hands of Culture Ten after only two weeks of dominance only reinforced the Thraddash belief in the sacredness of the Aqua Helix.

These events, however, led to the end of Culture Twelve as their original enemy, Yajag, surprised the remnants of Jugkah's army and proceeded to annihalate all of them, paving the way for the establishment of Culture Thirteen.

Culture Fourteen
Culture Fourteen is the second Culture to question traditional Thraddash values. Shortly after acheiving dominance, Culture Fourteen claimed that the Thraddash method of cultural evolution was wrong.

However, the Ur-Quan's intervention only postponed the resolution, as Culture Eighteen's challengers introduced a super-lethal poison into the air and water, ending the reign of Culture Eighteen.

Their relative military weakness, however, forced the Ur-Quan to decide that they would be more of a liability in the coming battles and ordered them to "guard the flank." The modern Thraddash have improved their Torch ships with a effective Reeunk Afterburner(named after it's creator), and are itching to prove their worth to the Ur-Quan.

Blood is red, bruises are blue

When strangers come here, we run them through!

HARG! HARG! HARG!

There once was a Thraddash named Mak-Roni

whose ship was in total caco-phony

He got lost in Apodis

and died in Draconis

Because all that he ate was baloney!

HARG! HARG! HARG!

Constantly moving are

__NOTOC__

The Supox Blade is a largely underrated ship. It’s rapid fire capability can pound an unwary enemy and the lateral thrusting, when properly used, is nearly as good as the Arilou Skiff's Hyperspace shunts in evading shots. The Blade is quick and agile with a fair turn-rate, allowing it to considerably hamper enemy targeting efforts. Its slender form makes it harder to hit her.

Main Weapon: Sprout Gun
The rapid-fire Sprout Gun may cause small damage but it sure fires fast. Even when out of battery, the gun’s firing rate remains high and it’s range, equaling the Ur-Quan Dreadnought and the Syreen Penetrator can prove deadly.

Special System: Lateral Thrusting System
It takes a hell lot of practice to master the tricky Lateral Thrusting System but when correctly used, the Lateral Thrusting can be used to sidestep shots or strafe into a firing position. Especially effective against slow-firing ships such as the Dreadnought or Kohr-Ah Marauder.

Tactical Overview
The Blade is a fair adversary that shouldn’t be taken lightly.

Strong against: Syreen Penetrator, Ur-Quan Dreadnought, VUX Intruder, Ilwrath Avenger, Utwig Jugger.

Weak against: Chenjesu Broodhome – The crystalline shards put the Lateral-Sidestepping into a real problem. Arilou Skiff, Slylandro Probe and Pkunk Fury can convey quick hit-n-run attacks on the Blade. The Chmmr Avatar can neutralize almost all incoming projectiles, but it is possible for a skilled and patient Blade captain to wear down the Zapsats.

The Supox Utricularia are an intelligent spacefaring race resembling some carnivorous plants. When they were first met by the New Alliance of Free Stars the Supox had already forged a cooperative relationship with the nearby Utwig.

Physiology and origin
The name by which they chose to introduce themselves to Captain Zelnick of the Vindicator, the first human to ever make contact with them, appears to be a conscious mimicking of human genus-species names for organisms. It combines their native term for themselves, "Supox", as the name of their genus, with the human term "utricularia" from Latin (literally "bottles") as a way of comparing their physiology to that of a genus of terrestrial carnivorous plants, commonly known as bladderworts.

Like bladderworts, the Supox are life forms best classified as being in Earth's Kingdom Plantae. They are multicellular organisms with a body structure defined by rigid cell walls held in shape by internal turgor pressure, dependent primarily on photosynthesis for energy, with body structures like roots, leaves and stems very similar to those of terrestrial plants. They appear to have a basic structure of large green leaves surrounding a central stem, similar to that of an enlarged Earth bladderwort (complete with a stomach-like cavity for digesting animal food), with the addition of vinelike appendages acting as arms, rootlike appendages that detach from the ground and act as motile legs, and a blossom-like appendage containing sensory apparati that acts as the analogue of a head.

The Supox's home planet, which they call "Earth" in human language — both as a direct translation of the native term "Vlik" (which they only use when it is necessary to distinguish Vlik from the human homeworld) and in conscious imitation of humans' naming of their homeworld — is the first planet around the star the Alliance calls Beta Librae and Supox call Root. Root is brighter and hotter than Sol and glows in the green portion of the visible spectrum. The proportionally higher energy available to photosynthetic organisms on Vlik may explain why the Supox were able to attain levels of mobility, adaptability and complexity — all the way to the level of sentience — that no plant on the humans' Earth ever achieved.

The Supox by far gain most of their energy through solar radiation, and have evolved their radiation-detecting senses to the point that they compare their deeply held aesthetic perceptions of the energy gained from different wavelengths of light to the human ability to taste food. Nonetheless they can gain nutrition from other sources. They have been known to consume small portions of animal flesh in order to survive, similarly to the Utricularia bladderworts they named themselves after. The primary way their species gained dominance on Vlik was by intelligently devising various means of biological symbiosis with various other plant and animal life forms. They adapted their own flexible body plans to the lifestyle of another species so that they could find a way to extract energy from them while doing them a reciprocal benefit.

Relations to other races
The Utwig
This constant reconfiguring of their own bodies finally led to a full-scale technological culture, but one based primarily on biotechnology. They could create machines by artificially growing carefully shaped plant matter the way the Supox had originally surgically and genetically modified their own bodies. When their first starships made contact with the neighboring Utwig the Supox, as a collective culture seeking guidance, did what they had always done as individuals seeking food — seek adaptive symbiosis. They developed their protocols of communication, exploration and scientific research by closely imitating the Utwig and in return lent the Utwig their resources and labor in all the Utwig's great endeavors. This arrangement pleased the Utwig, who at the time felt the impending acquisition of the Ultron would put them in the perfect position to lead other species to enlightenment. Despite their dependence on the Utwig, the Supox's native common sense soon made them skeptical of the whole Ultron concept. Especially after the Utwig identified the Ultron as an apparently useless object sold to them by the Druuge at exorbitant prices. Nonetheless, for the sake of their friends they played along, and when the Ultron broke they undertook to safeguard it and attempt to repair it in order to save the Utwig social order.

The Humans
With the Utwig incapacitated, the Supox were open to taking a new race as their cultural mentors, which turned out to be the Humans of the New Alliance of Free Stars led by Captain Zelnick. Most of our communications with the Supox are thus distorted by a Supox culture that has studied human culture in detail and now openly imitates our own etiquette and imports terms from our own language in communicating with us.

Involvement in the War
When Zelnick restored the Utwig's Ultron, the Utwig valiantly led the charge to attack the Kohr-Ah and delay the outcome of the Doctrinal Conflict, calling their Supox allies to assist them. The weaker Supox military took grievous initial losses in this combat, but Utwig strategists soon learned how to use the Utwig's superior defensive capabilities to compensate for the weaknesses of the delicate Supox Blade ships, and use the Supox ships' superior speed and manueverability to strike where the Utwig could not. The Supox forces thus became a critical factor in delaying the Kohr-Ah victory and allowing the New Alliance to complete their desperate plan to destroy the Sa-Matra. Though their contribution here as elsewhere is often overshadowed by that of the Utwig, they nonetheless deserve the galaxy's thanks.

It's not easy being green
Before meeting the Supox, human xenologists had theorized that the development of intelligent, tool-using life among plant-like life forms was highly unlikely. They presumed that it would be much more difficult for plantlike cells, separated by cell walls, to develop the complex specialization needed for a sentient brain, and much less likely for a photosynthetic niche that encouraged a sessile lifestyle to lead to intelligent behavior. Interestingly, in studying their own origins Supox scientists came to very similar conclusions, expressing confusion among themselves as to why Supox should have achieved sentience rather than an animal-like species, and how the complex, incredibly unlikely seeming structures that allowed Supox intelligence and motility ever evolved. Many Supox saw these factors as a convincing argument that the Supox had been divinely created or at least artificially created.

The Supox are thus aware of their unusual place among sentient species as well as the tendency of most species, descended from animal-like life forms, to see the Supox as descendants of a kind of life they only thought of as background vegetation or food. The Supox generally take derogatory references to their plant nature in good humor, though they do take moral offense at the assumptions of animal-based life forms that sentience, even in its most primitive forms, is something only animals share. They are particularly offended by animal-based sentients that adopt a vegetarian lifestyle for moral reasons, who assume there is a degree of sinfulness in killing even the least intelligent animal but that all plants are free for animals to consume. Given their own long struggles to survive on their planet's surface and their history of constantly attempting to peacefully cooperate with species of all kinds — plant and animal, sentient and nonsentient — they take grave offense at animal sentients who see them as food (even in a vague, indirect sense) simply because they are plants.
General
The Spathi are a cowardly race of "meta-mollusks." They have a coloful exoskeleton, a single jiggling eye, and jointed pinching claws. As a race, the Spathi are absolute cowards and paranoid. They live in constant fear of an undetectable phantom called the Ultimate Evil, which the Spathi are convinced lives just beyond the reaches of their most powerful long-range sensors.

The Spathi evolved on the lone planet Epsilon Gruis I (their name for the star is Yuffo and the planet, Spathiwa). Recently, their home planet has been beleaguered by a race of ravenous creatures called the Evil Ones who enjoy eating Spathi, with the result that the Spathi population has taken refuge on their own moon.

Hierarchy Status
When the Ur-Quan Kzer-Za subjugated the Spathi, they offered them the same choice given to each race, as dictated by the Path of Now and Forever: be a fallow slave or battle thrall. The Spathi actually chose to be fallow slaves, being rather fond of the idea of being forever protected by an impenetrable Slave Shield. However, the Ur-Quan's Umgah servant who was to notify the Ur-Quan of the Spathi's choice mischeviously reported to the Ur-Quan that the Spathi had chosen to be battle thralls.

Religion
The Spathi have a traditional daily prayer which reflects their general attitude towards life: "..Oh God... please don't let me die today! Tomorrow would be so much better!"

Ship
The Spathi pilot the very nimble Eluder-class ships.

Black Spathi Squadron
There are legends of a Black Spathi Squadron who somehow overcame their species' natural cowardice and began roaming the galaxy performing "brave and hostile deeds." They reportedly painted their ships black with bright red stripes in order to distinguish themselves from their cowardly brethren. However, no one knows if they ever actually existed, and the Spathi have never mentioned them.

Unfortunately, their complete defeat at the hands of Culture Ten after only two weeks of dominance only reinforced the Thraddash belief in the sacredness of the Aqua Helix.

However, the Ur-Quan's intervention only postponed the resolution, as Culture Eighteen's challengers introduced a super-lethal poison into the air and water, ending the reign of Culture Eighteen.

Their relative military weakness, however, forced the Ur-Quan to decide that they would be more of a liability in the coming battles and ordered them to "guard the flank." The modern Thraddash have improved their Torch ships with a effective Reeunk Afterburner(named after it's creator).

Blood is red, bruises are blue

When strangers come here, we run them through!

HARG! HARG! HARG!

There once was a Thraddash named Mak-Roni

whose ship was in total caco-phony

He got lost in Apodis

and died in Draconis

Because all that he ate was baloney!

HARG! HARG! HARG!

Constantly moving are

space, stars and time

SNORT!

form not function

meets in death

remembered
