Juffo-Wup is a concept, almost religious in nature, which the Mycon often make mention of along with the Non and the Void. Together with the Deep Children and Spears of Light, these phrases are the major portions of what other races term the religious litany of the Mycon. Since most conversations with Mycon soon degenerate into seemingly incoherent ramblings, the true meaning may continue to remain a mystery. We are left to determine its nature solely from the context of mostly non sequitur responses. This study however is aided by the fact that many of the ramblings and responses of the Mycon make mention of Juffo-Wup.
From the way the Mycon use the name, it could possibly mean the spread of the Mycon race and the connection between all individual Mycon. Since the Mycon have demonstrated a certain collective intelligence and ancestral memory, it is possible that Juffo-Wup is merely the name for the "grid" that connects all Mycon. This theory is supported by the purported origin of the Mycon as Precursor constructs used for planet terraforming; a form of non-physical communication would be extremely likely.
- "A single spore lands, finds nourishment in decay, grows and attains maturity. It, in turn exhales a cloud of spores, which land, find nourishment in decay and grow. So progresses Juffo-Wup."
Another hypothesis is that Juffo-Wup refers to their internal programming and the perfect blueprint for the galaxy towards which the Mycon strive. The Mycon "look to Juffo-Wup for direction, and it provides the pattern," thus bolstering the idea of it as a type of predetermined blueprint. In this sense it represents the ideal state of the galaxy, hidden beneath the imperfect present form. As the agents of Juffo-Wup, the Mycon effect the manifestation of this ideal form. The Mycon foresee a day when Juffo-Wup will be complete, and the Creators will return. This prophetic vision also shows that while the Mycon consider Juffo-Wup to transcend space and time, to be all powerful, and to include even themselves in its makeup, they do not see it as their deity. That status is probably more correctly reserved for the "Creators".
Being a concept deeply rooted in an alien psychology, Juffo-Wup might be beyond our capacities as humans to adequately define. None of the proposed definitions so far convincingly incorporate all the contextual clues at hand. While the concept's religious nature can not be denied, it is likely that, similar to the Deep Children and Spears of Light, Juffo-Wup corresponds to something real and actual. Without additional insight, whether from the Mycon or from another source, this will remain a baffling and contentious subject matter.
