Before the discovery of Hyperspace, what we now call TrueSpace was simply called "space". It encompasses the three normal dimensions of reality and contains all the planets, stars, galaxies, and other matter and energy of the known universe. It is expansive; if we were forced to use trueSpace travel to even the closest of stars would take years, if not decades.
It is assumed that all known races evolved in trueSpace, although the discovery of Orz throws that into doubt, as does the realization that the Arilou homeworld is accesible only via QuasiSpace.
