To further combat spam, people can only create new pages after their account is 7 days old.

Installed the CheckUser extension. People with the right privilege can look up users' IP addresses via Special:CheckUser, and find users connected to an IP address. This should help fight spammers who create multiple accounts.

To combat spam, all anonymous edits now require passing a CAPTCHA. Before, this was only required for anonymous edits which include a URL.

Recent spam seems to be automated. I don't know how they get through the CAPTCHA (the image isn't downloaded). I've updated the MediaWiki software. If that doesn't help, I'll have to do some investigation. — SvdB
