:First let me say that I agree that "terraform" isn't the best word in this situation. However, "xenoform" is explicitly used in the SC canon as a word/slang for alien lifeform, eg VUX (Very Ugly Xenoform). But I also agree that "xenomorph" works for alien lifeform, too. We see something similar in the description of the [[ VUX Beast]] as a "xenoteratomorph". I think that I also understand your initial intention of changing it from the word "terraform" since this is a somewhat human-centric term, and the deep children turn worlds into something that is nothing like earth, quite the opposite in fact. That's why I didn't blanket revert back to terraform. There is some usage of the word "terraform" as a broad synonym for planetary engineering in general no matter the outcome, but again I agree that using it here could be misleading. I don't like using "xenoform" as a verb in this sense ("Alien-shaping" a world) because I've never seen it used as such in an actual dictionary, in popular fiction, nor in the SC canon. :Oh, right, the VUX.  Is it used outside of that?  The dictionaries I have readily available don't even have terraform, and of course have neither xenoform nor xenomorph.  Wikipedia does have an article on "[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xenomorph_%28Alien%29 Xenomorph]s" referring specifically to the beasts in _Alien_, rather than general aliens.  Wikipedia also has "xeno-terraforming" on its [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terraforming Terraforming] page.  I'm not quite sure where I picked up the word.  Looking on the web I do seen phrases such as "terraforming, or rather xenoforming" on a few places discussing aliens doing so, but it is admittedly, fairly rarely used. :"Terraform" may carry a connotation of capital-E Earth-shaping, but if you look back at the [http://catholic.archives.nd.edu/cgi-bin/lookit.pl?latin=terra Latin roots], the word could be taken to mean little-e earth-shaping, where earth is synonymous with "soil".  So, it could be any process that changes a planet.  I would argue that "terraforming" is appropriate for what the Deep Children do.  -- Ghengis, 1 July 2006
