In both Star Control and Star Control II/Ur-Quan Masters, each ship has a certain intrinsic value within the context of the game. The value at the Earth Starbase is the amount of RUs gained by scrapping the ship, and also the cost to build the ship, assuming an alliance exists with that race. It is a hundred times greater than the point value in Super Melee and eight times greater than the debris scavenged (however Slylandro Probe is an exception, as its point value in Super Melee is 17, but RU value is 550 when scavenged).
