Science Officer Bukowski was sent to investigate the ruins of the Androsynth on Eta Vulpeculae II. In the process of his investigations, he grew gradually delirious, and began ranting about the existence of "Them". After "They" incapacitated him, he was relieved by Ensign Hawthorne. Bukowski despite being apparently attacked by "Them" (cuts continue to appear on him even after he is restrained) presumably recovers from his experience as the number of personell available on the ship is unafected.
