A legendary band of rogue Spathi who overcame their race's natural cowardly nature and dedicated themselves to wandering space and "performing brave and hostile deeds", painting their ships black with bright red stripes in order to distinguish themselves from the normal cowardly Spathi.
No one knows if they ever actually existed, and the Spathi themselves have never mentioned them. They only crop up in rumors and urban legends, and most authorities dismiss these tales as spurious.
