'Fear Ball' is a widespread colloquial term for the fully charged red form of the Melnorme primary weapon. Should this fact be included? -- Death 999

I don't know if this is really that widespread. On the UQM forums, only three people use a similar term for these: Captain Smithy and yourself use "fear ball" or a variation of it, and NECRO-99 uses "fear orbs." Can anyone else confirm if this is a widespread colloquial name? The edit I did was to try and match it up with the terminology used in the SC2 manual. It isn't unprecedented to included a colloquial name, The Flagship article mentions "SIS", but that initially started because of the internal code. If the colloquial term had a similar source then I think it'd be easier to include. But that's my two cents...anyone else? --Fyzixfighter
If the origin of the term can be loosely traced to Star Control canon, sure. However, if it's merely a term used by fans with no connection to the game (as opposed to SIS), I don't think that alone merits its inclusion in our encyclopedia. -Fadookie 01:40, 29 December 2005 (CET)

The Melnorme Trader isn't good against Druuge, you guys. The red charge does work well as a shield against Druuge shells, but not perfectly. In a typical Druuge vs. Melnorme fight in net melee, the Druuge will fire dozens of shots from many different angles into the Melnorme, but they will eventually crack the shell of the Melnorme. It's too wide to hide behind the red charge forever, and not speedy enough to close distance with Druuge. I'll leave the article as it is for now, but I suggest that line in "Stong Against" be deleted. --Shiver 20:38, 9 August 2008 (CEST)

The ship pages here could use help from you and any other veterans who care to contribute. Feel free to to make any changes you like, Shiver. If you do, I suggest that on all such pages we note explicitly that we're mostly not interested in the AI player, and that in PvP matchup assessments one assumes players don't adopt tactics (or ships like the torch) which preclude definite outcomes. Similar notes could be added at Multiplayer Melee Suggestions, which could be linked to where necessary. --Zeracles 19:28, 14 August 2008 (CEST)

I feel it should be noted the different ways the versatile weapon can be used-- as a rapid-fire machine gun, as a sniper's shot, as a shield, and as an incredibly powerful battering ram. It can deal faster damage than nearly any other weapon in the game when fully charged.--71.111.119.176 15:51, 1 June 2010 (UTC)
