The word Earthling, an alternate term referring to a member of the Human race, particularly one born on their homeworld, Earth, was apparently the favored term for that species during the Ur-Quan Slave War. In all other contexts, including most Star Control II-era Hierarchy communications, "Human" remained the most common term.
"Earthling" has now mostly passed out of use, though it seemingly remains part of the official designation of the Human combat vessel, the Earthling Cruiser.
