:::Oooo...interesting. I do hope you'll make these tools available. There's a few other images from sc1 that I'd like to extract and include here, but I really hate taking screen shots. Of course, with my current restraints on my time, I should probably leave that task for someone else to do. --[[User:Fyzixfighter|Fyzixfighter]] 06:04, 5 June 2007 (CEST)

:::As I recall from SC1, the reason the images are in multiple parts (at least this is my guess) was because of how these images were presented.  First you'd see the image of the ship, with no text/graphic overlay.  Then slowly, the text and graphic would display with a beep-beep/clack-clack sort of noise ... like a technical readout.  Once this was done, the image would look as we see it here.  I wouldn't mind doing the screen captures, except I don't know where my SC1 disk is anymore.  I think I might still have it on my old computer's hard drive, but I haven't used that machine in years.  However, if you are able to get it to work, I'd also like to see this image extraction tool.  Sounds cool.  --[[User:PsiPhi|PsiPhi]] 00:39, 19 October 2007 (CEST)

This image is a low quality one. The good image has more colours. — SvdB 15:26, 3 June 2007 (CEST)

Actually, this appears to be true for all the sc1 databank images, just more noticeable in this and a few other cases (Spathi, Ur-Quan...). Perhaps these were taken from the sega version (as there's also some text differences)? I know the PONAF has these images - could we simply grab theirs and bring them over here to replace the current ones we have. --Fyzixfighter 16:01, 3 June 2007 (CEST)
Quick update in a brief moment of free time: Yep, it looks like these are from the sega version of the game. So we can either just copy the PONAF images as is, or copy and convert them to PNG format (kind of pointless if there's already JPG loss), or recapture them from the PC SC1 (anyone remember the original resolution ???x??? of sc1). --Fyzixfighter 21:54, 3 June 2007 (CEST)
I have actually recently written a couple of tools to extract the data files from SC1. The problem is that these images are actually stored in parts, and they need to be merged, so they need a bit more work before being usable. — SvdB 23:28, 3 June 2007 (CEST)
Oooo...interesting. I do hope you'll make these tools available. There's a few other images from sc1 that I'd like to extract and include here, but I really hate taking screen shots. As I recall from SC1, the reason the images are in multiple parts (at least this is my guess) was because of how these images were presented. --PsiPhi 00:39, 19 October 2007 (CEST)
