Greg Johnson

When thinking of Star Control II's design and fiction, Paul Reiche III always comes in mind. However, Greg Johnson, the lead designer of StarFlight, also did an amount of work comparable to Paul's.

Indeed, Paul himself has openly credited him (and his game) in the 2007 IRC chat.1 Johnson did most of the Orz, Arilou and Pkunk dialogue.2

Other contributions include:

  • The Utwig, Pkunk and Orz voices (for the 3DO version) — generally positively received by fans, though the Orz voice has been openly criticized (and a significant percentage of fans don't like the Utwig voice3)
  • Art and animation (he did the a considerable amount of starship artwork)4

He also used to play Super Melee along with Paul and Toby Schadt.
