Many kinds of stars fill the galaxy. The properties of a star have a strong effect on the planets in its sytem and subsequently the minerals that can be found on those planets.

Size Classification

Larger stars will have more planets. Those planets tend to be more treacherous but have more valuable minerals. They are rated (from smallest to largest):

  • Dwarf Star
  • Giant Star
  • Supergiant Star

Some star types have special attributes. All Supergiant stars are home to Melnorme trader ships, for example.

Color Classification

The color of a star indicates how hot it is (directly dependent on how much energy it outputs). Hotter stars have a significantly higher chance of having more mineral rich worlds around them. They are rated (from coldest to hottest):

  • Red
  • Orange
  • Yellow
  • Green
  • Blue
  • White

The color scale listed here is scientifically true and not a made up feature of The Ur-Quan Masters. The effects of star temperature on planet types and mineral resources however are speculation.
