All nuclear weapons, other weapons of mass destruction, and SDI lasers (for lack of need) were locked in the vaults until they were re-opened in 2116 to serve as ammunition for the Earthling Cruisers being built in Detroit. The creation of these vaults was caused by the Small War of 2015, the largest use of nuclear devices in Earth's history.
