Is IDF just for hyperspace to quasispace jumps? If so, what is the technology called for entering hyperspace then? I, too, had always assumed IDF was just for q.space, until I read an earlier version of this article (which I then expanded on). Then, the description of "traveling between dimensions" seemed to fit pretty well into the description of entering h.space, so I went with it. It's been so long since I played SC2, and I don't remember these details to well; but this article contained some interesting information, and I'd hate to see all of it disappear, particular if the "IDF = q.space" assumption is incorrect.

The term IDF is only used when refering to QuasiSpace. That doesn't mean that it isn't used for entering HyperSpace, but at least Xeno-Historian Kilgore had never heard of it, as he reported "the Androsynth began experimenting with something they called Dimensional Fatigue phenomena". For entering HyperSpace "hyperspace pushers" are used. There may be some connection between entering HyperSpace and QuasiSpace, as you need an Ur-Quan warp pod to make a portal spawner, but there can be various explanations for that. -- SvdB 22:28, 14 Oct 2004 (CEST)

I assumed that IDF was about "traveling between dimensions", but that travelling from truespace to hyperspace is sufficiently well understood that "IDF research" (i.e. what the Androsynth were doing) must refer to something more exotic.

Would this article fit into the Dimensions category? It seems at least pretty close, if you ask me.--Gaeamil 06:19, 18 April 2007 (CEST)
