Having no internet connection, no map, and no way to print the map anyhow once I got internet, I lost the game by a very narrow time margin 6 times in a row.
Not to mention a few quests I skipped several times because after 15 minutes I couldn't find the constellation the aliens mentionned...
Until constellation names appear next to constellations, and players can put little marks next to stars as reminders of where to go and what's done, map use annoyances will remain the worst feature in standard UQM.
Hopefully there exists a version of UQM or a patch that solves this (I can't help but think someone fixed it by now), and the wiki needs a patch link list.
