Ultimate Evil

The Spathi as a whole live in constant fear of an enigmatic, malicious alien race known simply as the Ultimate Evil. Nothing is actually known about the powers, intentions, or even the true identity of this race. However, the race's furtive nature, lurking just beyond the reach of the most powerful long-range sensors, is evidence (according to the Spathi) of its nefarious intent. This cultural fear is so powerful that the Spathi contingent of the Earthguard, with the exception of the StarRunner and her captain Fwiffo, disobeyed orders from the Ur-Quan and returned to Spathiwa to defend against a possible surprise attack by the Ultimate Evil.

Though it is likely that the Ultimate Evil is simply non-existant. A phantom the cowardly Spathi imagine is lurking out in the unknown. It is of note that the Spathi used to be close neighbours of the Androsynth. A species, they claim never to have really 'liked'. But whom they felt wasn't out to kill them 'as everyone else seemed to be.' The Androsynth where of course replaced by the Orz. Who may be, or be assiociates of, the mysterious race of thought-parasites mentioned by the Arilou, known only as 'Them'. Whilst it is not particularly likely that 'Them' and the 'Ultimate Evil' are the same. (Most likely the Spathi do not know about 'Them') It is not entirely impossible either. And the Spathi would certainly describe such beings as the Ultimate Evil
