Talk:Ilwrath
Some histories say that when the Ur-Quan first entered this sector of space, the Ilwrath had not yet developed hyperspace capable engines, and their early conquest was much to their delight, as the Ur-Quan provided them with the hyperspace technology allowing them to practice their unholy rituals on many other races during the war.
The Ur-Quan later reveal that the Ilwrath were the strongest and most reliable of the Hierarchy battle thralls, and that their destruction with the Thraddash was perhaps the biggest defeat the Battlethralls had ever suffered. (SC3)
Birth Rite[edit]
"Upon emerging from the egg sac, the Ilwrath hatchling participates in what is known as the Birth Rite. Each hatchling competes with its siblings for its first feeding of blood, and a large number of hatchings perish during this event. Whether the blood was part of the natural diet of the Ilwrath before the establishment of the worship of their gods Dogar and Kazon is unknown."
I'm pretty sure the relevant lines from the Ilwrath actually referred to cannibalism among the hatchlings; the "first frothy draught of blood" being the blood of their siblings.
"Ah, Our Culture Is Rich With Meaningful Tradition. During The Birth Rite The Egg Sac Teems With Many New Potential Deaths The Hatchlings Fight Over Their First Frothy Draught Of Blood. In The Ensuing Frenzy, Many Hatchlings Are Consumed, Either Partially Or In Their Entirety."
"Hu-Man, You Do Not Understand. It Is As It Has Always Been. When The Hatchlings Struggle From The Egg Sac They Show Their Respect To The Twin Gods Of Death During Their First Frenzied Gorging. From That Moment On, The Directives And Philosophies Of Dogar And Kazon Are Manifested By The Hatchling."
Yehat or Pkunk[edit]
Is there anywhere that specifically says that the Umgah wanted the Ilwrath to go after the Yehat? I can't recall seeing it anywhere. Certainly the Dogar and Kazon message could apply to either one. Also, it is possible that the Umgah knew about the Pkunk - in the HyperSpace map of 2133, the Pkunk sphere of influence is one of three Unknowns. Fyzixfighter 21:12, 26 Oct 2005 (CEST)
- Indeed. I've changed the relevant segment to mention to the facts and nothing more.

Abandoning Earthguard[edit]
I believe that it is erroneous to say that the Ilwrath abandoned Earthguard to attack the Pkunk. Fwiffo says that the Ilwrath left because they:
- "claimed to have received a direct order from their Gods of Evil and Darkness, who had grown dissatisfied with the Ilwraths' passivity and wanted them to kill or at least torture someone soon."
He also says that the Ilwrath left about eighteen years ago. The Pkunk state that the conflict between the two races began about eight years ago. The Ilwrath seem to agree, saying that:
- "Eight Years Ago, Dogar And Kazon Responded To Our Wails Of Dismay By Directing Us To Devour Feathered Bird Beings-The Pkunk!"
We honestly don't know the exact nature of the command that caused them to leave Earth. But since the Ilwrath abandoned Earthguard 18 years ago, I doubt that the two commands, to go kill someone soon and to attack the Pkunk, are one and the same. Just my analysis of the text, though. I could be missing something. --Fyzixfighter 08:32, 16 September 2006 (CEST)
I see. The numbers indeed don't match up. The resource guide even mentions "[...]the Earthguard, a fleet of Spathi and Ilwrath combat ships left behind twenty years ago by the Ur-Quan to monitor Earth." I'm going to remove the quotes though, as it was not a literal quote of neither the Ilwrath nor their gods. — SvdB 17:50, 17 September 2006 (CEST)
When I said I was going to "remove the quotes" I meant the quote symbols. But I instead added a note that the remark came from Fwiffo, as that seemed better. — SvdB 17:53, 17 September 2006 (CEST)
