Talk:Walkthrough
Just a few things:
- How is this going to differ from Ultronomicon:Game events? Or, what will this walkthrough do that that article doesn't? The structure of the game is very non-linear so a traditional walkthrough would be difficult. If this walkthrough is going to be significantly different, you should probably use the game events article as a guide for mentioning required/optional events and order of events (when it exists) since I believe Phoenix and Svdb hashed those out fairly well.
- The standard that seems to have developed on this site for referring to planets/moons is "Zeta Centauri Ia", though I can't recall where or if we discussed this in depth. The star name followed by the roman numeral for the planet is typical of most of the in-game conversations. At the moment I can't find any in-game reference for the moon designation, but the lower case letters w/o hyphen designation is similar to that used in the Role Playing Resource Guide. I can't remember if there was a unique designation when in orbit of the moons in the PC version - none exists in UQM.
- It might be better to move all the NOTES to a separate section of their own since they are applicable to more than just the situation where they appear and their current position tends to break the flow of the article.

Thanks for the comments Fyzixfighter. Heres my reply:
- This Walk-Thru will be an in-depth, step by step guide to fisnihing the game. When I first played Ur-Quan, I got lost many times (lost meaning what to do next, not where I was in the universe ;)) and a guide would have helped me to see where I was and what I was supposed to do next. Alas, no guide exists on this Wiki so I have decided to create one myself, having completed the game recently. I wasn't aware Ultronomicon:Game events existed. Even so, I'm still going to go ahead and design this Walk Thru because it will be a lot of help to those new at playing.
- Very well. I will change the format now :D I want to keep everything as normal as it should be :D
- Hmm. My original idea was to have small notes when something is first addressed, so the bigger the Walk-Thru gets, the less notes you'll see at the end of it. For eg, since mining minerals and fighting has already been addressed, it wont be elsewhere. However, if I move the notes to the bottom of the page, what do you think would be the best way to link them? I was thinking of linking it via a (?) button next to the text?

I think a walkthrough that tells the player what to do in a descriptive way could have a place here. But note that plenty of similar SC2 walkthroughs can be found across the web.
One minor point of criticism — no, make that one BIG point of criticism: Using "thru" for "through" really hurts my eyes. — SvdB 07:24, 18 Dec 2005 (CET)
Thanks for your thoughts. Thru has been changed to Through. And yes, there are heaps of SC2 walkthroughs, but they are for SC2 :P I have noticed quite a lot of differences in planets between a SC2 walkthrough and the Ur-Quan Masters game. So I thought I'd make an original walkthrough for this wiki.

- I've made "walkthrough" one word; "walk through" is incorrect. "walk-through" is correct, but as "walkthrough" is the most common spelling, I've changed all mentions to that.
- There should really be no significant differences between SC2 and UQM (see Version Comparison). Got any examples?

Before I start a minor edit war, I'd better explain some of the edits I had made to the article. The heading structure needs to be revisited in order to follow wikipedia conventions as described in Wikipedia:Manual of Style (headings). Only the title of the article should be H1, which is done automatically. All other headings in the body of the article should be H2 or more. That said, I think you could take out the "Welcome..." heading, which seems to serve the same purpose as the article title, and have that paragraph be the opening paragraph for the entire article. This would be kind of awkward, though, given the "work in progress" heading above so you might have to move stuff around.
As to the Pkunk, they never actually join the cause. They do consider you a friend and offer ships on occasion, but they never formally ally with you nor send their ship designs and captains to the starbase. Thus, I think "assist" is a better description than "join" for their role. Yeah, it's a bit nitpicking but it's also being accurate. We wouldn't want someone to read the walkthrough and then wonder why they couldn't build Pkunk Furies at the starbase. --Fyzixfighter 08:33, 18 Dec 2005 (CET)
